We often move too quickly from a visible event to an explanation, then from an explanation to a conclusion. Symbiain begins by separating these moves. A system is the arrangement we are trying to understand; an observation is a dated, attributable trace within it; a model is a provisional simplification; a claim is what we are prepared to say on the available evidence.
