Working proposition
A concept stated for scrutiny, refinement and possible rejection.
Publication standard / revised 5 September 2026
Symbiain is an independent publication and evolving method by Iain Davie.
Its credibility depends less on sounding certain than on making evidence, interpretation, uncertainty, correction and authorship visible.
The public compact
Fact, report, observation, association, inference, hypothesis and allegation are not interchangeable.
A source supports only the proposition it actually establishes, within its date, scope and limitations.
A preferred reading should not erase plausible explanations or disconfirming evidence.
Every case should say what it is, what it is not and which decisions require qualified professional judgement.
Material errors, overstatements and changed evidence should lead to revision, not rhetorical defence.
A logo, citation, conversation, institutional contact or published source does not imply endorsement or partnership.
How to read the work
Status describes maturity and purpose. It is not a badge of truth.
A concept stated for scrutiny, refinement and possible rejection.
A demonstration built from identified public material; not client work or privileged intelligence.
A proposition that requires specialist, empirical or independent testing before a stronger claim is justified.
Fictional or interpretive material used to illustrate a question, never as historical proof.
A bounded comparison between methods, explanations or systems, without claiming superiority in advance.
Reserved for a defined method or claim that has been tested by parties outside Symbiain; the scope and result of that evaluation must be stated.
Sources and tools
Search, translation, computational and AI-assisted tools may support discovery, comparison, drafting or checking. Their output is not treated as a source merely because it is fluent or convenient.
Where a public claim matters, the relevant underlying source should be identified and the limits of that source preserved.

Symbiain does not represent Iain Davie’s employer, a university, a government, an intelligence body, a client or any cited organisation unless a specific relationship is expressly stated.
Reference to an institution, author or method indicates intellectual or evidential relevance—not approval, adoption or sponsorship.
Validation pathway
Public case studies demonstrate how the method can structure a question. They do not establish that Symbiain improves accuracy, safety, speed or outcomes.
Stronger claims require a pre-specified question, an appropriate baseline, permissioned or synthetic data, domain expertise, independent challenge, retained failures and transparent reporting of limitations.
The intended route includes carefully scoped pilot evaluation and, where the question is suitable, peer-reviewed or conference submission. Until that work is completed and published, the relevant material remains labelled as a working proposition or research prototype.

Corrections and challenge
Corrections are welcomed when they identify a specific statement, source, omission or evidential distinction. A challenge is strongest when it explains what is wrong, what better evidence exists and how the change affects the reading.
